Last Bus to Woodstock, published in 1975, introduced the world to Inspector Morse, the irascible detective whose penchants for cryptic crosswords, English literature, cask ale and Wagner reflected author Colin Dexter’s own enthusiasms. The TV series brought further acclaim, and in the manner of Alfred Hitchcock, the author makes a cameo appearance in almost every episode. Don’t miss his first Chester appearance.
