Louis de Bernieres & Ilone Antonius

Poetry & Music for Autumn

The Auditorium, Bank of America, Chester Business Park
7.30pm £8.00

This year’s festival is launched with special guest author Louis de Bernieres who wrote the best-seller Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, a gripping story which sets the beauty of music against the horror of war. In the film version starring Penelope Cruz, Nicholas Cage and John Hurt, the instrument itself became a star.

The author’s private passion for the mandolin has led him to play professionally and he especially enjoys performing with the Antonius Players. This evening, flautist Ilone is accompanied by Louis on mandolin, guitar and woodwind.

A smash hit at the Edinburgh Fringe, this eclectic and entertaining programme features work from Keats to Eva Cassidy, from Shakespeare to Seamus Heaney. A fabulous launch event for the festival.
