A Little History of the English Country Church

Molloy Lecture Theatre, University of Chester
7.45pm
£7.50

A dramatic story comes wrapped in what is an elegy for the English country church – and a passionate plea for its preservation. Despite the changes that took place inside it over the centuries, the parish church has remained a symbol of continuity, etched into the tableau of the English countryside. Over the last few decades, however, the building itself has come under threat and the author, a former director of the National Portrait Gallery and of the Victoria & Albert Museum, considers its means of survival.
